I’ve been wondering lately if it is foolish to believe in the transforming power of Love?

We live in a society that is so polarized and where much faith and spirituality based dialogue is vapid.  Such dialogue has lost its spirit and meaning through authors who use flowery, spiritually enlightened language to describe how we are supposed to act and treat others, how we are all one, and then in the next breath condone losing faith in, having no tolerance for, having no love for those who could support a former political leader who is so caustic, a leader whose actions were so divisive and harming to this country and to the dignity of all humanity, a leader who stirred up the under shadows of racism and bigotry in our country we thought we had dealt with and moved beyond.

On the one hand, Christ’s mandatum is held as the standard being held high by these noted authors, “Love one another.”  While in their other hand, they hold higher the proclamation, “However, isolate, condemn, turn away from those who could support a former president like that, those who are members of that party who elected him.”

I have no desire to add to the vapidness of spiritually based dialogue as it tries to balance and confront the contradictions of contemporary polarized American society.  I have no desire to further add to the polarization of our society.  I have no desire to enable the destructive, violent, harmful actions of those whose thoughts, words and actions are contrary to the gospel, the teachings of Christ, the teachings of Buddha, the enlightened knowledge that We Are All One.

I do try to navigate my way through the darkness of this time, the negative and positive influences around me and reflect as best I can that Great Light of Love, Truth, and Mercy. For it is only in the Light of Love that this age will be transformed.  It is only in living out, as best we can towards ALL, Christ’s mandatum to “Love one another, as I have loved you” that the hypocrisy, hate, darkness, polarity, and vapidness around us will be transformed and brought into the Light, will be gathered into the oneness of us all.
